Usually when talking about maps it is referring to treasure maps. There are 5 types of these treasure maps. Regardless of type, you will need to decode it with Cartography, the higher cartography required the better the treasure will be and the stronger the guardians of the treasure will become. Once you have decoded a map, you need to find out where the treasure is buried. This is done by standing in the general area and using a shovel on the map. It will give you a tracking pointer directing you to where the treasure is. Once you find the right spot, shovel the map again, to dig up the treasure.

Congrats, you have yourself the hidden treasure. But it is still guarded and locked. Before you can lockpick it you will have to release the guardians, those can be everything from orcs and ghosts to dragons depending on the type of map. You don't necessarily need to kill them all, but whoever is picking it will need to concentrate.

The types of treasure maps:

  1. tattered
  2. frazzled
  3. frayed
  4. worn
  5. ragged
