Introduction

The bard is a magic user / melee fighter and uses a maul instead of a staff. Their ability to play songs that can boost, curse and damage a player or mob around you is well known and a very sought after. The bard profession is a well balanced, well rounded class, and best of all is inexpensive to train, making this a very profitable PVM class. The only downside is that it takes a long time to train.

* Can use chain mail armour, but if you want to play all your songs, 65 meditation is required AND you can only use bone armour.

Guide

Starting off

You will get to choose 1 skill @50% and 2 @30% I would advise;

@50% Meditation

@30% Musicianship

@30% Resisting Spells or Magery

Immediately you will want to train your music to 65%. This shouldn't take long so long as you always play the 2nd or 3rd to last song on the bard gump upon double clicking an instrument. Also, train your peacemaking, just have hostile mobs on your screen and use the skill over and over.

Once you're in class, you will have to put in many hours into music to gm [Grandmaster @100], experiment with your songs and instruments but to train do as instructed before. It is also important to train other skills, especially those that are bard specific. Other skills that you should train are Macefighting to 100%, Meditation to 65% and Resisting Spells.

Tips

  • Most songs All songs take 7 seconds to play.
  • Certain instruments will fail less while playing songs. [this seems to be the case with a drum for instance while playing damage songs]
  • At 65 intelligence and 65% Meditation you can use a healing wand when you are not singing through bone armors.
  • Meditation decides what type of armor you can use while singing, ie. the higher your meditation, the better armor you can wear.
  • Different instruments have different effects, for example, the drum is a damage instrument that deals high damage, EXPERIMENT.
  • The best armor you can wear and sing all your songs in is bone armor (requires 65 meditation).
  • The bard is the only magic class that can use a maul.
  • There are magical instruments in the world, they are as follows:
    1. Consonance [best]
    2. Harmony
    3. Melody
    4. Accord
    5. Sonority [worst]
