By using this skill on a corpse you are able to determine who killed the monster and who cut it up.
Training
To use the skill, either setup a macro in the in game macro options or just click the little blue gem next to the skill in the skill log. Alternatively you can use poisoned food to practise.
Notes:
Using a dagger on the corpse will allow for slightly quicker skill gains when building Forensic Evaluation.
